peace

Peace with God.

Romans 5:1

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. – Romans 5:1

We have a wonderful experience when we realise we are justified before God. We can be at peace. We need no longer stress and feel anxious or worried. We know we are right before God and oh what wonderful peace that is, the peace of God that passes understanding:

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7

Jesus is named as the Prince of Peace by the prophet Isaiah:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6

Jesus is the Light of the World (John 8:12, John 9:5). He came to remove the darkness in our lives and give us light, give us the truth:

to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” – Luke 1:79

By telling us the truth He gave us the opportunity to turn away from unrighteousness:

True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity. – Malachi 2:6

Jesus did not give us something the world can give us. There is no peace in the world. Parents strive with children, children fight with each other, neighbors dispute, political parties argue and nations go to war. Peace can not be found within either. If we look into our soul we find disharmony, we can never be what we think er ought to be. There is a deep dissatisfaction within our souls, and emptiness that cannot be satisfied until we accept Christ into our lives and are born again.  Then we have peace with God.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. – John 14:27

Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you. – Job 22:21
