Preach the Good News
Romans 10:14-15
14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”. – Romans 10:14-15
Why did the Lord of all, created of the heavens and the earth, all wise all powerful choose weak frail humans to bring the message of the gospel to other humans? Surely there was a better way? A more efficient way? Well yes there probably was a better way. But, God in His wisdom decided that the evidence of a human life transformed by the grace of God was the greatest testimony to His love and compassion towards us. He chose what seemed foolish to confound the wise:
20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. – 1 Corinthians 1:20-21
But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; – 1 Corinthians 1:27
So, who has been sent to bring the gospel to the nations? All those who believe have been sent to preach the good news, to lead others to believe.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20
God wants to have a close personal relationship with us. So, He has chosen us to go into the world and have personal relationships with other people that will lead them to Christ. The best way they can hear is through a believer telling them and them seeing the evidence of transformed lives. Of course Christ has not left us to do this on our own but we now have the Holy Spirit living in us who will be the one that opens a person’s heart and reveals the truth:
But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. – 2 Thessalonians 2:13
