Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LORD!
ALEPH.
1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LORD!
2 Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!
3 They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways.
4 You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently.
5 Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes!
6 Then I would not be ashamed, When I look into all Your commandments.
7 I will praise You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments.
8 I will keep Your statutes; Oh, do not forsake me utterly!
This starts a bit like the sermon on the mount
6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. – Matthew 5:6-8
Being “undefiled in the way” is the way of blessing for us. To know that we can walk before God and know we are accepted in the Beloved. We need to keep a short account with God confessing sin as soon as we realise we have fallen. The translation of the word law in Hebrew (Torah) means to teach or direct. Hiding the word of God I our heart will help us from falling into sin. It gives us the mind and heart of God. We need to seek God with our heart more than our mind. The heart in the scripture means the centre of your being. The powerhouse from which, if unregenerate, wickedness and deceitfulness stems. It is the centre of our affection and we need to seek after God with our affection as well as understanding His word with our mind. Then we will be kept from being ashamed. We are to hunger and thirst after righteousness, act with mercy and maintain a pure heart as we set our affections on things above and not on this earth.
